Scottish Kin was founded by Carol McKinven to provide an approachable Scottish genealogy research service and to advise those interested in their Scottish roots. She has been researching Scottish and English family history for 20 years, and has branched out into Welsh and Irish records as well as internationally. Carol also has an interest in Estonian genealogy and history.
In addition to extensive experience, Carol holds a Masters in Genealogical, Palaeographic and Heraldic Studies from the University of Strathclyde (awarded with distinction) for her research into bigamy in Victorian Scotland. Prior to this she also successfully completed the Postgraduate Diploma and Certificate in the same subject.
Based near Edinburgh, we have regular personal access to the Scotland’s People Centre and National Records of Scotland in Princes Street. Our location is also convenient for travel elsewhere in Scotland for research in other archives or for location research.
All Scottish Kin research is undertaken in line with the Association of Professional Genealogists professional and ethical guidelines.
